Dr. Margaret Gaglione
of Tidewater Bariatrics in Chesapeake received the James J.
Leonard Award for Excellence in Teaching Internal Medicine from
The Department of Medicine, Uniformed Services University of
the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD. The award recognizes Dr.
Gaglione's commitment to education, patient care and the mission
of training medical officers at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth.
Dr. Gaglione is the founder and medical director of Tidewater
Bariatrics, which specializes in the non-surgical medical treatment
of overweight and obese patients. She is credited with helping
100 local patients safely lose more than 2,000 pounds of weight
in eight months, including discontinuing or decreasing 26 medications.
