Dr. Margaret MacKrell Gaglione is the founder and Medical Director of
Tidewater Bariatrics in Chesapeake, Va. Along with her staff, Dr.
Gaglione successfully provides education and medical care to help
obese and overweight individuals achieve their goal of losing weight,
keeping it off, and feeling good again.
Dr. Gaglione is a Board Certified Internal Medicine Physician,
as well as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a
member of the American Society of Bariatric Physicians.
She is a graduate of Le Moyne College and the Pennsylvania State
University College of Medicine.
In 1992 she began her Internal Medicine
Residency at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth (NMCP), Virginia,
and was the Chief of Residents during her first staff year. Dr.
Gaglione served on active duty as a staff Internist at NMCP until
1998, when she became one of the hospital's contract Internists.
She is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Uniformed Services
University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland, and has
worked for 11 years as their on-site medicine Clerkship Director
for third year medical students at NMCP.
Dr. Gaglione's interest in helping people with obesity problems
began nearly a decade ago. During this time, she has successfully
treated many patients and lectured widely on the medical impact
of obesity and obesity-related complications.
Dr. Gaglione has successfully completed the American Board of Bariatric
Medicine's written and oral examinations toward board certification.
She has written nine peer reviewed publications on medical education
and teaching.
